Supplies

Dog tag psp selction

Metal ball necklace

Metal Eyelet psp tube

Group of psp preset shapes, which includes the ring

Remember to save often and Lets get started

First download the supplies above. The eyelet is a tube, when you download put it in your picture tubes. Then group of preset shapes goes into your preset shapes folder and the dog tag psp selection goes into your selection folder and the metal necklace you can just open in psp.
1. First open a new raster image. 500 X 500 tansparent background. Name is Dog tag.
2. Now click selections/load/save selection and load selection from disk. Load the one you just saved. Dogtag is the name.
3. A selection will appear that looks like a dog tag. Next get your flood fill tool and select a grey color. I used #c0c0c0. Flood fill your dog tag.
4. Do not deselect. Now we are going to add an inner bevel
Bevel # 9
width - 3
smoothness - 2
depth - 5
ambience -  -5
shininess - 21
angle - 325
Intensity - 33
elevation - 67
color same grey as before. click okay
Deselect. I know that my example looks different because in my bevel I used a white but It dont' look all that great to me.
5. Next get your eyelet. Get your tube tool and find the eyelet. Add a new raster layer name it eyelet click okay and place your eyelet towards the top using the scale of 90.
6. Now click on your dog tag layer to make it active. Get your eraser tool and use size 15 and erase on the inside of the eyelet.
7. Add a new raster layer and name it ring.
8. Colors of choice but I used a silver sparkle pattern for the foreground and black for the background
9. Get your preset shapes tool and find your ring. create as vector checked and anti alias check width 3.00
10. Draw out a ring making it a little bit taller than wider. Now rotate it a little to the left. Place it inside the eyelet. Now convert to raster layer and rename it Ring and erase the part of the ring that overlaps your dog tag and the eyelet, so that it looks as if it's going thru the eyelet. Save here so that way you can use this for other dog tags.
11. Now your halfway there. Get your text tool.
12. Use text of choice, and size of choice. I used a plain bold text Arial Black and size 11.
13. Type out your text. I typed Proud to be an American. Using the center alignment.
14. Move the text towards the top of the dog tag. Convert to Raster layer and rename it text.
15. Add a cutout effect
settings
Vertical and horizontal - 2
opacity - 100
Blur - 3.00
color black, fill interior not checked. Apply these settings
16. Now get your freehand selection tool and change the settings to freehand. mode set at replace.
17. Make your tag layer active. Now make a selection starting at a high point of the bottom half of the tag and going towards the bottom, making it look like a flag. If your not sure what I'm talking about look at my example. Now go around the bottom half of the the tag and to complete your selction. Now click inside the selection to make it tighter.
18. Get your flood fill tool and select a red for the foreground and white for the background colors. Next click the foreground color and change it to the gradient foreground to background. Repeat set at 12 and the angle set at 330. Now while still selected add a new raster layer and name it red and white and flood fill your selection. Add an inner bevel with the same settings as before. Deselect
19. Again make your tag layer active and select a part of the red and white, where you'd like the blue to go. Choose a light colored blue, add a new raster layer and rename blue and then flood fill selection. Add same inner bevel effect.
20. Next add some stars, using your preset star shape. Choose a white color for the stars and add them on a new raster layer and name it stars.  Merge visable.
21. Next open the necklace I supplied and copy and paste the right side layer onto your dog tag as a new raster layer. It should be paste as the top layer, drag it down to the bottom of the layer pallete. Next copy and paste the left side layer as a new raster layer and drag to the top.  Rename these two ride and left side.
Vwa-lah, you now have an American dog tag. Save as a different name as before, that way you can use it over and over agian. Email me your results. I'd love to see them. Phillip102604@yahoo.com
